Hello, I'm Tyla!
I'm a specialist wellness counsellor who really believes in the importance of a warm, non-judgemental space to work through life's many different challenges.
Whether you've experienced trauma or other things that may or may not have been traumatic for you, such as emotional distress, relationship difficulties, grief, or everyday stressors, I am here to help you work through it with an empathetic ear and by equipping you with healthy coping skills.
I enjoy working with children, teenagers, and adults, and have experience in working with people in various walks of life. I can help you take charge of your emotional life and guide you towards personal growth.
Taking the step towards caring for your mental health can be incredibly difficult, but so important. If I did not mention any particular challenge you are looking for assistance with, please do not hesitate to send me an email for more information.

FAQ
How long is a session?
We all have different needs and goals when it comes to our counselling sessions, so my approach is to tailor this process to you.
- Traditional individual sessions for adults and teenagers are 50 minutes, but I offer 90-minute sessions for those who would like some extra time.
- Sessions with children are between 30 and 50 minutes – depending on the age and capacity of the child.
- Couples and family sessions are 60 minutes.
What is play-based intervention?
Play-based intervention is an approach to counselling I take when working with children, as I understand that it is not easy or appropriate to expect children to express themselves as one would in a traditional counselling session.
Here, children are observed through how they play and are given appropriate coping skills from these observations. Play is also very often a way for children to comfortably and safely express their worries and emotions.
Due to scope of practice, careful attention is also placed on observing whether referral to appropriate networks is necessary, as I believe in a person-focused approach and prioritise the importance of your child receiving the best possible support.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes — I work across South Africa via secure video.
Counselling vs therapy: is there a difference?
The terms are often used interchangeably. In practice, counselling typically focuses on present-day challenges and practical coping strategies, while psychotherapy may explore deeper patterns over a longer time. Many clients benefit from a blend of both, depending on their goals and timeline.
Are you taking new clients?
Absolutely! You are more than welcome to contact us if you have other questions or concerns. If not, we are also happy to give you a free intro call to explain more about the process. If you feel ready to book a session, you can either book via our booking system or contact us directly to get started. The first step in reaching out for help can be the most difficult, but I’m glad you’re here. I look forward to going on this journey with you!
How do I pay?
Payments are made before sessions to lower the risk of no-shows. You will be sent an invoice containing banking details for an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). After your invoice has been paid, your session will be confirmed. 24-hour cancellation policy: sessions cancelled less than 24 hours before your appointment time are not liable for a refund.
